Salem serves male and female adults (ages 18-59), who have a primary diagnosis of mental retardation, in group homes and supported living situations. Currently we have one female opening and we are accepting people in our supported living program. We do accept people on a waiting list after they have been on a tour of Salem and completed the appropriate paper work. Upon request, an appointment for a tour will be set up with the interested party. At that time an application for admission will be given. Upon receipt of the application an information packet from the regional center will be requested. After reviewing all information received a letter is sent to the interested party placing the prospective resident on Salem's waiting list or indicating Salem's inability to serve that person. When an opening occurs the applicant will be contacted for an interview and tour of the home. Preplacement visit(s) will be arranged if all parties are happy with the prospective placement. After a successful weekend visit an offer of placement will be made and appropriate arrangements made.
